Clarify the scope of the certification request

When a customer requests ISO 9001 certification, establish which activities, products, sites or contracts the request concerns. Assuming that every activity has the same scope can make planning and quotations unclear. Confirm the applicable standard edition and any transition arrangements using current sources at the start. This guide neither reproduces standard clauses nor decides compliance for a particular company.

Review actual work before using document templates

Trace how an order is received and passed to production, how suppliers are selected and how nonconforming products are handled. Identify process owners, controls and decisions using representative records. Describe and improve actual practice instead of filing procedures that the organisation does not use. Prioritise gaps by impact and practicality.

Make preparation deliverables explicit

A quotation that only promises a certificate does not describe the work involved. Agree which processes will be reviewed, what the team needs to provide and how readiness will be assessed. The following is an illustrative work plan, not a mandatory or exhaustive document list.

Follow internal findings through to closure

Finding an outdated instruction in production may require more than replacing that copy. Examine why it remained in use, how the effective version was communicated and whether other locations have the same issue. Track action ownership, due dates, implementation evidence and effectiveness separately. Record actual implementation and gaps honestly instead of creating retrospective records as though activities had already occurred.

Keep consulting separate from the certification decision

SEZHEL provides consulting for system design, implementation and preparation. An independent certification body conducts the certification assessment and makes the decision. ISO develops standards; it does not itself certify companies. Assess the body's scope, competence, accreditation where applicable and your customer's acceptance requirements. Consulting or using QMS does not guarantee certification.

Provide the information needed to scope price and schedule

Sites, employee and process scope, system maturity, target dates and on-site requirements shape the initial assessment. Distinguish consulting fees, certification audit fees and any additional training. A quotation should state deliverables, customer responsibilities, exclusions and how scope changes are handled. We can plan meeting arrangements for your business around these needs.
